Job Description
Job Summary:
Trading in both physical products and financial commodities. Physical products include gasoline, diesel, heating oil/fuel oil.
Responsibilities:
- Physical trading activity, on both spot and term basis, in pursuit of both optimal system supply and trading profit/loss. Negotiates contracts both short and long-term.
- Develop trading strategies, including proposing relevant risk management and hedging strategies as well as seeking out and identifying trade opportunities.
- Initiate and manage physical and financial positions for profit, focuses on supply portfolio, manages price exposure for system and trading positions and proposes.
- Keep abreast of oil supply and demand fundamentals, global geo-political developments as well as global and regional market dynamics for various crude oil grades.
- Collaborates with commercial operations to manage physical inventories consistent with supply requirements and financial market structure. Represents the company externally and requires an extensive network of 3rd party contacts.
- Interpret information, both financial and from a variety of other sources to detect trend and cause/effect relations.
- Maintain and enhance established business relationship with oil trading partners and new major counter-parties in the industry.
- Perform market analysis to support trading activities and to identify new business opportunities.
- Participates in setting strategic plan for supply & trading team and provides leadership role to other commercial functions.
Requirement:
- Degree in Management / Finance / Economics / Chemical Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum 10 years of trading experience in global environment with at least 5 years in clean product or fuel oil
- Possess extensive knowledge on oil industry fundamentals, global geo-political factors that impact oil markets, and the dynamic major regional oil market players.
- Familiar with refinery processes, inland logistic and marine movement
- Good knowledge of operational matters such as contract administration, handling of issues in crude oil/product qualities, blending, shipping operations, hedging mechanisms and development of long-term trading strategies.
- Proven track record in managing large and complex price exposure.
- Excellent analytical communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills
